Micheletti will run for President

December 14th, 2007 · No Comments

San Pedro Sula. The session of the Supreme Court of Justice concluded where 14 magistrates voted to the favor of the president of the National Congress, Roberto Micheletti with only one vote against. Micheletti will now be able to participate in the next electoral debate.

When interviewed by journalists Micheletti said he had faith in the result that was obtained on this day where he only ha done vote against. He also said he will start working on his political campaign as soon as he is able too by law.

The meeting of the plenary session of the Supreme Court of Justice started today at 11:00 am with the objective of emitting a definitive sentence on the unconstitutionality of article 240 of the Constitution opposed by the president of Congress.

Trusting the Supreme Court magistrates to emit an independent and favorable decision to the cause, the president of Congress manifested his concern after learning that the Executive Authority continued the direct pressure towards the magistrates who today could decide the unconstitutionality resource that he interposed.

The president of Congress gave a short interview to the newspapers saying:
I am deeply concerned for the declarations of some congress members and lawyers who have said that this will cause conflict in our country if the Supreme Court decides in favor. What this will do is taking the Constitution if the Republic to its normality.
Micheletti says jurists who are not in favor of anybody, can say that a mistake that was committed is being corrected. He also made a calling to the magistrates so their verdict are free of influences by telling them no to be intimidated.

“I have to respect the law and the determination of the Supreme Court of Justice. I hope the magistrates’ wont get intimidated by anyone or by anything and take a legal determination so that the country can trust the law authorities of Honduras”.

Many assure that by excluding many politicians from this process and creating a chaos, the idea of reelections would be in place which seems to be what the president of the nation wants.
