In Tegucigalpa a fire consumed seven apartments in San Miguel a district from this city where the occupants lost all their belongings because they where not around when the fire started informed the fire department.
The fire started at around 11:30 Wednesday morning near the police station to where four fire units and 16 firemen made their way to, thanks to their immediate intervention avoided that the flames propagated to other houses.
According to neighbors the fire started in one of the apartments and was shortly propagated with greater intensity to the other apartments after a tank of LPG gas exploded. The firemen used more than six thousand gallons of water in order to control the flames.
One of the neighbors said that she was preparing lunch when she suddenly heard the screams of persons alerting everyone of the fire and asking to call the fire department. According to the same neighbor the occupants of the apartments did not have time to get any of their belongings out because they where all at work and did not get there in time.
In a matter of minutes the apartments where reduced to ashes.
