Merchandize Seized

After hours of monitoring and pursuit the DGIC (Criminal Investigation) seized a shipment of medication and household items that where stolen from trucks on the highway that leads to the north of the country. The shipment was found in the community of Cerro Grande in Tegucigalpa.

A total of 133 stoves and a good quantity of medication boxes where found by the team of Analysis Unit from DGIC in two storage facilities supposedly, property of a Chinese businessman according to information revealed by the police commissioner.

The police officer said the stolen merchandise is valued at two million lempiras and the stoves where to be delivered to an agency that sells household products in San Pedro Sula and the medication where to be delivered to a pharmacy or hospital.

According to labels on the boxes of medication they came in to the country from Guatemala and the household items came from Costa Rica. The investigators proceeded to arrest the guard and are trying to track the authors of this robbery.

The police commissioner confirmed that they received the report of both robberies that occurred north of the country 10 days ago, since then they started doing the investigation which ended with the seizure of the stolen products. Preliminarily they had notion of the robbery of the stoves and refrigerators in a place near Bufalo, Cortes with an estimated value of 30 thousand US dollars and after that was the robbery to the truck with the medication shipment valued at 70 thousand dollars.

The police also revealed they where investigating the name of the owner of both storage facilities. The stolen shipment was taken to the DGIC they will deliver to the public prosecutor office.
