Authorities from the Spain embassy announced their country has restricted entrance to foreigners so they suggest the Hondurans that have intentions to go away to work to that country to abstain from doing.
In the past years thousands of Hondurans have been forced to immigrate to that European country as a second option after the United States has limited to grant visa.
Honduras and Spain have an agreement by means of which double nationality is allowed; nevertheless this condition does not favor the entrance of Hondurans to this country as the citizens of that nation are allowed in national territory.
The Spain ambassador, Agustin Nuñez, indicated that measures have been adopted because in the last 12 years almost four million foreigners have entered the country and they have remained living and they are saturating the labor market.
He also detailed that in his country there are 40 million nationals and four million foreigners, these last being valuable contributors on the economic growth that has been registered in the last decades, but that has been decreasing in the last years, particularly in the construction industry where most immigrants would work, reason why there is almost no opportunity for more immigrants.
A special visa is needed to work in Spain which is extended by the different consulates after a Spanish company certifies it.
But if the person’s intention is to remain to work there and enter as tourists, whose maximum time of permanence is of 90 days, they will have to credit their destiny and declare the economic resources in which they count for that intention before the Border Control of that country, indicated the diplomat.
If the authorities verify that the person does not fulfill the requirements to enter the country as tourists, they are authorized to deny the entrance to them. They have also indicated that to enter as tourist it is necessary to be a tourist; it is not possible to enter the country under that condition and stay working here.
The ambassador insisted that if the Hondurans go to Spain as tourist then they do not need a visa, but they need to count with sufficient economic means that prove that they have economic availability to be in Spain with that purpose.
In case the visit takes place through a letter of invitation from a relative residing in that country, the letter will have to be granted at the corresponding Police station meaning that direct invitations are no longer valid.
The diplomat advised to the Hondurans that pretend to work in Spain, to go to the Consular Section of the embassy of that country before they travel to obtain a work contract from a company, so that a work visa is extended to them.
