Communications Law Bill

October 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

Honduras Congress Verdict Commission halted debates Monday to consult the draft bill on telecommunications before it become a law.

Congress Chairman Roberto Micheletti asked seven legislators from different parties to adjust the document to national reality and survey it.

President Manuel Zelaya warned that some radio and TV station owners are plotting with businessmen opposing this law that establishes four percent income tax on net profits and demands to set up a fund to enhance their networks at rural areas.

The law is aimed at strengthening state-run Empresa Hondurena de Telecomunicaciones and reduce the so-called telephone traffic gray areas.

Cabinet legal advisor Enrique Flores said the goal is to eliminate disparities and help benefit 100 municipalities that lack Telecommunications technology.
