Honduran Cardinal Criticizes Chávez

Honduran Cardinal Oscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga said President Hugo Chávez “feels like a god” and Venezuela is set for great pain if the country continues under a totalitarian regime.

“He feels like a god and thinks he has the right to abuse other people with an arrogance that has been seen in other dictators over history and who are remembered as tyrants,” said the prelate in statements published last July 22 in daily newspaper El Diario de Hoy, said AP.

“Chávez is blind, deaf,” Rodríguez added in the interview offered following a conference in the Salvadoran capital town.

Spirit Airlines® Launches Non-Stop Service to San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Introductory Fares Starting at $9 Each Way

Spirit Airlines launched non-stop service between its Fort Lauderdale hub and San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Service from Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport initially will be offered three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights from La Mesa International Airport in Honduras will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Honduras is the third Central American country served by Spirit Airlines, joining the carrier’s Guatemala and Costa Rica destinations. It is the fifth country in Latin America and the 35th destination overall.

Bautista Denounced

The Honduran Association of Prosecutors (AFH) denounced Attorney General Leonidas Rosa Bautista for obstructing prosecution of many cases of corruption in the country.

We are confronting a person who has used time to protect his friends, people who belong to the same system he does, and from which system he came to occupy his post, asserted AFH President Jari Dixon.

Presenting an evaluation in the name of AFH, Dixon stressed that Rosa Bautista is not committed with the struggle against corruption in this Central American nation.
