June 25th, 2007 · No Comments

The Central American Parliament will begin a meeting on Monday in Honduras, seeking a common position regarding regional integration, and getting rid of an unfavorable political image, according to sources of the institution.

Honduran Deputy Roberto Martinez said PARLACEN should not be seen as a shelter for decadent politicians.

There is interest in changing the image of this authority, and turning it in to a dynamic entity, consistent with the peoples aspirations, said Martinez, PARLACEN vice president.

Honduran Legislator Armida Lopez reported that the migratory phenomenon is one of the main issues, together with Central American integration, to be discussed during the nine sessional days.

The opening ceremony will be held at the town hall of San Pedro Sula, the second largest city in Honduras, with president Manuel Zelaya s attendance.

Salvadorian President Salvador Saca is also expected to attend the ceremony.
