Presidents Manuel Zelaya and Antonio Saca (El Salvador) advocated on Wednesday to speedup the Central American integration process.
In sessions of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN), in the northern Honduran city of San Pedro Sula, both presidents said the union of Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras has shown progress, such as raising borders and reduction of visa procedures.
Zelaya pointed out that PARLACEN legislators want to establish a community of towns on the Gulf of Fonseca, on the Pacific Coast shared by El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras.
Saca showed his disposition to reach mutual agreements and create programs in favor of development of the Central American nations.

A suspected member of a human smuggling ring was charged Tuesday after authorities raided a Katy home, freeing three immigrants from Honduras who were tied up and threatened with guns and machetes.
Authorities were contacted around noon Monday after a 17-year-old Honduran escaped from a home in the 2200 block of Birch Valley in Katy, said Precinct 5 Constable Capt. Romeo Chapa. When more than a dozen Harris County constables and federal agents arrived on the quiet street, they detained a suspect who fled the house.
”They were occasionally tied up, separated and put in rooms,” Chapa said of the immigrants. ”It’s not a good existence.”

Inter Milan signed Honduras striker David Suazo from Cagliari on a four-year contract Tuesday.
The 27-year-old player will be unveiled Wednesday at Inter’s training facility near Como, the club said in a statement.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Suazo, who scored 44 goals in 108 Serie A games with Cagliari, joins a talented roster of forwards at league champion Inter, including Hernan Crespo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Adriano.
Uruguay striker Alvaro Recoba is expected to leave Inter following Suazo’s arrival.

The UNESCO announced the happy news on Monday that the Rio Platano biosphere reserve in Honduras was removed from the list of endangered World Heritage sites.
In a media note from its headquarters in Paris, the United Nations Organization for Education, Science, and Culture made the announcement during a meeting in Christchurch, New Zealand, where the World Heritage Committee analyzes this issue and the prospects of including new sites in the ‘at risk’ category.
The committee praised the encouraging results by the Honduran government’s efforts to safeguard the reserve in Rio Platano, registered on the World Heritage list in 1982 and in the group at risk in 1996.
