Leonel Vielma and Daniel Arismendi scored goals Friday as Venezuela beat Honduras 2-0 in an international friendly.
Vielma opened the scoring with a free kick in the 18th minute to set the tone for the match at Merida’s Metropolitano Stadium. Arismendi split two defenders in the 39th minute, scoring on
a blast that was far beyond the reach of goalkeeper Orlin Vallecillo. Carlos Pavon scored in the 45th for Honduras.
The friendly was part of Venezuela’s preparations for the Copa America it will host starting on June 26.

USA, Illinois, Chicago Fire Soccer announced today that three members of the “Men in Red” have been called to represent their country of origin for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup from June 6-24. United States Men’s National Team head coach Bob Bradley has named Fire midfielder Justin Mapp to join the 23-man roster that will seek to defend their 2005 Gold Cup title. Fire midfielder Ivan Guerrero has been tabbed to represent Honduras in the upcoming tourney, while the “Soca Warriors” of Trinidad & Tobago have requested the services of Fire rookie defender Osei Telesford.

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras
Honduran President Manuel Zelaya has ordered the nation’s broadcasters to carry two hours of government-sponsored programming every day.
Zelaya said the decision was based on what he said was unfair coverage his government has received in recent months.
Zelaya said the revised programming was a temporary measure.
Starting next Monday, TV and radio stations will carry two hours of programming feature Zelaya and other Honduran lawmakers.
The president tried to get the Honduran Congress to pass a law last month banning publication of stories about violent crime in the country.

‘MY life represents change,” Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, the gorgeous, turbulent “L” in the mega girl group “TLC” says into the camera shortly before we see her hop behind the wheel of an SUV and head off to her death.
And yes, the accident in which her car rolled over an embankment killing her was caught on film as well, although her actual death is edited out.
At the time she died, she had been on a retreat with several close friends and family members to her beloved Honduras to the spiritual retreat of natural healer Dr. Sebes. Always ahead of the curve, Lopes’ last days on earth play out like a celebrity reality show - if celebrity reality shows were real that is.
